FAA Guides Provide Streamlined LOA Process for Transoceanic Flights

The National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) has announced the release of new Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) guides that provide detailed information on a streamlined process for obtaining a Letter of Authorization (LOA) for transoceanic flights.  The FAA recently published new Oceanic and Remote Continental Operations Application Guides, one for certificated operators (i.e., Parts 91(K), 121, 125 and 135) and one for Part 91 operators

The guides, developed in collaboration with the FAA, aim to simplify and expedite the LOA application process, making it easier for operators to obtain the necessary authorization to operate in oceanic airspace.

Transoceanic flights require special authorization due to the unique challenges and requirements associated with flying over large bodies of water. This new process will help increase efficiency and reduce the administrative burden on operators seeking to conduct these types of flights.

The streamlined LOA process includes step-by-step instructions and guidance on the necessary documentation and communication protocols. It also provides information on the specific criteria that must be met to qualify for streamlined approval, ensuring maximum safety and compliance in transoceanic operations.

The NBAA urges operators planning transoceanic flights to take advantage of these new guides, as they will greatly simplify the LOA application process and expedite the approval timeline.
